Lectio Divina
Sacred Readings
Lectio Divina means “sacred reading” and has roots in the early centuries of the Christian Church. It is a prayer practice involving slow, reflective reading and listening to Scripture, aiming to deepen and strengthen one's relationship with God.
In my personal faith and mental health journey, I have discovered that my mind is both powerful and resilient. My thoughts can swing down old, unhelpful patterns AND my mind can grow and develop new, much more helpful habits and neuro-pathways. One way I practice slowing down my mind and body, intentionally working to develop new neuro-pathways, and strengthening my communion with God is by listening to Lectio Divina readings. This quiet, purposeful, and reflective time with Scripture invites me to settle and connect with God’s Word and the Holy Spirit.
For those of you who know me well - it’s putting TRUTH on top! Alongside our circumstances, the messy world around us, and the swirling of thoughts - the Truths and promises in God’s Word are for us and hope to cling to.
I hope you find these recordings helpful. I pray you are able to slow down, breath deeply and receive the gift of His presence in your day. His calm, gentle voice whispers “Come” into my heart often… quiet yourself for a moment… can you hear it too?
Below are recordings of me guiding you through this practice using one to three verses from Scripture.
